2016 BrANCH Postgraduate and Early Career Workshop

BrANCH Postgraduate and Early Career Workshop

Keele University

18 March 2016

We are pleased to invite papers for the BrANCH postgraduate and early career workshop, to be held at Keele University on March 18th, 2016. The workshop provides a forum for the constructive consideration and discussion of thesis chapters, potential journal submissions and conference papers. Submissions are encouraged for individual papers from postgraduate and early career academics working on all aspects of US history in the long nineteenth century.

This year’s workshop will also include two short sessions from BrANCH members on post-PhD job applications within US history and applying for research funding.

We intend the workshop to become a valuable medium for young scholars to bring exciting new scholarship to the table. The workshop also provides an excellent opportunity for those of us at the early stages of our academic careers to meet up outside the annual BrANCH conference. Limited funding is available to subsidise the travel of those presenting their work.

We intend to circulate papers ahead of the workshop. In order to give all submissions due consideration, brief proposals of no more than 300 words should be submitted by 12th February 2016. Submissions should be emailed to branch.pg.workshop@gmail.com

If you are interested in submitting a paper, or would like to register your interest in attending, we look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

James Williamson & Rosie Knight (BrANCH Postgraduate Representative)
